Founded in 1997, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board is a Canadian public pension investment management organization headquartered in Toronto. It manages Canada Pension Plan contributions not needed for current benefits, constructs diversified portfolios, conducts direct and external-manager investing, and oversees portfolio risk and stewardship independently of government. Its statutory mandate is to maximize long-term returns without undue risk of loss for contributors and beneficiaries. Investment coverage includes public equities, fixed income, private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure and active investment strategies.
