DataBane is a private markets intelligence platform that provides structured, analyst-verified data on alternative investment firms, funds, and professionals operating in the global private markets industry (private equity, venture capital, private credit, infrastructure, real estate, and hedge funds).

We hold two categories of data:

• Firm and fund data: Company names, AUM figures, fund details, strategies, and publicly available firmographic information about alternative investment managers.
• Professional contact data: Names, job titles, professional roles, firm affiliations, and publicly available professional information about investment professionals acting in their institutional capacity. We do not hold personal contact details (home addresses, personal email addresses, or personal phone numbers).
• Platform user data: Email addresses and account information for registered DataBane users.

Professional data on the platform is sourced from publicly available information including company websites, regulatory filings, press releases, industry publications, and professional networking platforms where individuals have made their professional information publicly available in their institutional capacity.

All profiles are reviewed and maintained by our analyst team before publication.

We process professional contact and firm data under Legitimate Interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR and equivalent provisions under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023).

Our legitimate interest is to provide institutional investors, fund managers, and financial professionals with a reference database for identifying counterparties, conducting due diligence, and navigating the global alternative investment ecosystem. This is consistent with the public-facing professional roles of the individuals whose information we hold.

We have conducted a Legitimate Interest Assessment and determined that this processing does not override individuals' fundamental rights and freedoms, as:

• • Data relates exclusively to professional roles, not personal life
• • Information was made publicly available by the individuals in their professional capacity
• • DataBane is a reference database — we do not sell or use this data for outbound marketing
• • Individuals can request removal at any time (see below)

DataBane is a reference database only. We:

• ✓ Display professional information to platform users conducting research and due diligence
• ✓ Use data to improve the accuracy and completeness of our profiles
• ✗ Do not sell data to third parties
• ✗ Do not use contact data for outbound marketing or cold outreach
• ✗ Do not share data with advertisers

You have the right to:

• • Access — request a copy of data we hold about you
• • Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
• • Erasure — request removal of your profile from the platform
• • Object — object to our processing of your data

We will respond to all requests within 30 days. To exercise any of these rights, use our Data Removal Request form or email privacy@databane.com.

We retain professional profile data as long as we have a legitimate interest to do so. If an individual leaves a firm or their professional role changes, we update or remove their profile accordingly. Removal requests are acted upon within 30 days.
