TCI presses Aena directors on tariff increases and shareholder value
The Children's Investment Fund Management →Christopher Hohn and Jonathan Amouyal sent Aena’s directors a further letter concerning political efforts to restrict airport tariff increases. TCI argued that directors should defend the company’s economic interests and its ability to finance future capital expenditure. It called for public opposition to tariffs it considered uneconomic, representations to the government and regulator, and consideration of legal remedies. The letter warned that TCI might pursue accountability for directors if they failed to discharge their duties. Its statements about potential liability and investment returns were TCI’s positions, rather than judicial findings or realized outcomes. The correspondence records a shareholder engagement, not an acquisition, financing commitment or disposal.
