Ascribe Bio receives Brazilian approval for Phytalix
Trailhead Capital →Ascribe Bioscience announced that Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock approved Phytalix for fungal and bacterial diseases affecting soybeans and corn. The registration followed reviews by Anvisa and IBAMA and represented the company's first commercial product registration. Phytalix uses an ascaroside-related small molecule to activate plant defenses rather than directly attack pathogens. Ascribe said the product was designed for use with conventional spray equipment. The company planned commercial trials in Brazil during the upcoming growing season. Its United States registration remained pending, while separate agreements covered development with Syngenta in Southeast Asia and seed-treatment research with Corteva. Trailhead lists Ascribe among its portfolio companies.
