Crosscut portfolio company Aalo Atomics reports first criticality
Crosscut Ventures →Aalo Atomics announced that its Critical Test Reactor reached criticality on July 4, 2026. The company described a full-scale core intended to demonstrate the nuclear components of its planned power reactors. It said the reactor facility had been built, licensed and operated within the Department of Energy’s Reactor Pilot Program. Aalo also reported that work had begun on a second reactor at its Aalo-X campus, intended to generate electricity for an on-site data center in 2027. That future operating milestone remained a plan in the announcement. Crosscut identifies Aalo as an active portfolio company and participated in its earlier Series B financing.
