Newly Created N.C. Investment Authority Board Holds Inaugural Meeting
North Carolina Retirement Systems →North Carolina’s newly established Investment Authority board held its inaugural organizational meeting on August 27, 2025. The reform replaces the State Treasurer’s sole-fiduciary investment model with board oversight, with the new structure scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2026. Treasurer Brad Briner chairs the board. Initial members included Dan Ward and Mark Roberts, while Stephanie Lynch was announced as a nominee subject to legislative confirmation. The seated board appointed Kevin SigRist interim chief investment officer. The authority’s remit spans North Carolina Retirement Systems investments, state cash management and other funds, so its overall investment responsibilities extend beyond the retirement-system portfolio alone.
