Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern update merger proposal and expected timing

Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern submitted further customer-service commitments in support of their proposed merger. Their July 27, 2026 update expected completion in mid-2027, subject to the Surface Transportation Board process. Wells Fargo was a financial adviser to Union Pacific on the proposal. The update was not regulatory approval or a closing announcement.
